FAQ

What is Wayfinder

Wayfinder is an advanced ski boot recommendation engine, a digital bootfitter, that matches your foot shape, skiing style, and preferences to the best-fitting ski boots on the market.

How does Wayfinder work?

Wayfinder enables users to find better fitting boots online, by using foot scan data, customer preferences, and a proprietary fit algorithm to recommend ski boots that meets your fit and performance objectives. We compare your foot’s measurements to the internal dimensions of ski boots to deliver precise recommendations. See more info here.

Do I need special equipment to use Wayfinder?

No app download is required.  All you need is a smartphone, a piece of standard-sized printer paper, and your feet. Start your fit now.volumental foot scan

What happens if I make a mistake during my scan/measurement?

We work directly with Volumental, who has refined their scanning process and technology over tens of thousands of scans.  That being said, if your scan data looks incorrect, you’ll always have the option to repeat your scan again.

Is Wayfinder associated with a specific ski boot brand?

No, Wayfinder is independent. Our mission is to help skiers find the best boot for their unique needs, regardless of brand.

What happens to my data?

You can find our Privacy Policy here.

What if the boots don’t fit?

We only refer you to retailers with generous return policies that enable you to try on the boots and return them if they don’t fit. Please refer to the individual retailer’s return policy as many may not accept returns if you’ve actually skied on the boots.

Does Wayfinder cost anything to use?

Wayfinder is free for customers to try, please give us feedback where we can improve our product or recommendations.

What if I have foot health issues?

While we are striving to improve our product so we can service as many feet as possible, at the moment if you have abnormal feet or foot health issues that have required medical attention, we recommend seeking out an in-person boot fitting with a certified boot fitter, like those recommended by MasterFit University.  These boot fitters will be better equipped to fully evaluate your condition and manipulate an off the shelf product to support your needs.

How do I buy the recommended boots?

We only work with trusted retailers with solid customer support.  If you decide to purchase a boot recommended by Wayfinder, you’ll be linked directly to the product page for one of our ecommerce partners to then order your boots from.

After that, you’ll be in the caring hands of the ecommerce partner who will communicate lead times, shipping details, etc.. once you’ve ordered your product.  Obviously if your experience falls short with a given partner, please let us know so we can work with them to improve

What should I expect when I receive my boots?

The ‘first fit’ is almost always snug.  We recommend putting on your boots and wearing them indoors for a bit.  It may help to tweak the buckle settings as well.  Overall what you are looking for is balanced pressure around the foot.  At first this may feel constricting, but most liners begin to pack out as you take them to the hill and ski for several days.

What if my product doesn’t fit perfectly on the first try?

What you want to pay special attention to is anywhere that pressure feels relatively higher.  If the inside or outside of your forefoot feels particularly tight, or the top of your instep is being squeezed, these boots may not be right for you OR you may want to take them to a certified Boot fitter for some minor tweaks.

Alternatively, if you don’t have access to a boot fitter to make the needed tweaks, you can always return your boots according to the return policy of the ecommerce partner you purchased them from.
